Meet My Precious...

(Drum Roll) Welcome to the first post dedicated to my beautiful blog fans! Oh look, who have we got here? It's Luis and he's giving TMOP a lipstick kiss at a bus stop (how romantic) to show his love for the blog!

PR8: First, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Luis: Hi, my name is Luis and I'm From Mexico. I'm 25, currently single (wink wink) and I've been in London for 4 years now and I love it!

How did you discover The Ministry of Pleasure?
I was browsing through some blogs I came across TMOP and I found it very interesting, the way it mixes different aspects of gay life and other topics of interest, although the Guilty Pleasure is my favourite!

How long have you been a reader of TMOP?
I think I've been reading the blog for 5 years now, before moving to London, I try to stay up-to-date with every post.

What keeps you coming back to TMOP?
I think it's the mix of relevant topics such as pop culture or politics and the personal side of the blog, all the traveling, theatre and all the sexy naughty things =P

Anything you would like to see/feature on TMOP in the future?
I think rather than something in specific I'd like to see new updates more often.

Boxers, briefs or go commando?
Boxers to sleep. Commando to gym. Briefs for everything else. I must say I love underwears.

Ask me a question and I'll try to answer it =]
Which super power would you choose if could get one?
Hmm, I want SO many! But if I have to choose one, it's gonna be the ability to shape-shift into anything like Mistique in X-Men.

And last but not least. Gaga, yay or nay?
I went to her last show in London and it was great! To be honest, her last album isn't the best but definitely a YAY!

Muahhh! Thanks you Lois for doing this short and sweet interview with me, and for those who wanna get to know Luis a little more, follow him on Instagram @ludwik77 and Twitter @LudwikDlrvdm.

And if you wanna be featured on the next Meet My Precious, simply email me and we can take it from there!

Casting Call...

I'm not sure if this will work but I'm gonna give it a go. I'm planning to start a new recurrent post (just like Guilty Pleasure, Be Inspired, and Awww) and call it Meet My Precious.

The idea is simple. I wanna feature some of my readers fans (yes, I'm talking about YOU) on here in order to show my respect for you and to share your love of my blog with the rest of the world.

I dunno how many of you are brave enough to put yourself forward, but if you do, PLEASE drop me an email and we can go from there! Looking forward to hear from you. Cheers =]

P.S. I already have my first precious fan lined up for this weekend and he's from London, well... kind of.

The Greatest Living Mind...

Just saw The Theory of Everything and I can honestly say it's one of the best films I've seen, highly recommend it! And guess what? I didn't realise until now that Stephen Hawking had three children, had an affair with his nurse and divorced from his wife.

Anyway, do I think Eddie Redmayne deserves an Oscar of Best Actor? Hmm... ABSOLUTELY!

London Art Fair 2015...

Last Saturday I went to the LONDON ART FAIR at the British Design Centre. Hundreds of artists and galleries were represented in this vast hall, representing the most absurd modern art, some classic names, and everything in between. Here are some of my favorite bits.

Overall, I really inspired by the works of Andrew Salgado and Colin Davidson. I absolutely love the way strokes and colours are quite raw and simple yet bring out a lot of detail.

Grindr, public sex, body types, fetishes, aging, love, and exhibitionism are just some of the elements that London-based Portuguese filmmaker Antonio Da Silva explored in his collection of erotically thrilling short films, which depict the unique ways gay men have sex today.

A few weeks ago, I came across one of his film's trailers online and I was very impressed by it, so I decided to reach out to Da Silva for an exclusive interview and he kindly agreed!

PR8: First of all thanks for doing this special interview with me. So how are you today? And what did you have for breakfast?
Da Silva: My pleasure, I am feeling good, I am looking forward to visit my family an friends this weekend in Porto (Portugal) and my breakfast today was yogurt granola and coffee.

For those who don't know about you, can you give my readers a bit of your background?
I am a Portuguese filmmaker based in London. I have a background in performance and fine arts and my work crosses the borders between cinema, pornography and art.

What's your upbringing like in Portugal?
I was a countryside boy without any contact with the gay world.

So now you are in London, where do you like to hang out, grab food and go for a drink?
For the past 10 years I have always lived in East London so I hang out mostly around Shoreditch and Dalston.

Let's talk about your films. It all started with 'Mates' in 2011. Tell me, how did it all happen, and why?
I started shooting 'Mates' in 2010, at this moment of my life I had just came out from a relationship of 4 years, I was jobless and I just got my first smart phone. So I started to meet lots of men and also started to record most of the encounters.

Okay, this may sound unfair, but which is your favourite so far?
I don't have a favourite but I can say that one of my preferred ones is 'Limanakia'.

I must admit, I love them all! They are like documentaries, not officially, but in a way, that crossover between pornography and art. Would you agree on that?
Totally, we can also say they are ethnographic films or experimental queer cinema.

What and who inspires your works?
Most of the inspiration come from the places I visited and the people I met. I am inspired from the viewers and the people that want to be in my films and artist and filmmakers like Wakefield Poole, Martin Parr, Werner Herzog, Lloyd Newson, Lars Von Trier, David Lynch, and Michel Gondry.

Your latest film is called 'SOLOS'. Hmm, will there be a 'GROUPS' or an 'ORGIES' down the line :P
Yes I am hoping to do DUETS, TRIOS, ORGIES... there will be a sequel!

Ever had an embarrassing moment during a shoot? I guess it must be 'hard' to stay 'soft' (wink wink)
The embarrassing moments of the shootings happen when there are no excitement...

Complete the sentences, "My turn on button is…?"
Turning on the camera and shooting.

And "My guilty pleasure is…?"

What's something in your home that'd make a stranger think you are gay? And something that'd make a stranger think you are straight?
(GAY) A statue of the Greek god Zeus in my room.
(STRAIGHT) My storage area.

What's the last movie you've seen?
I saw 'Blue is the Warmest Colour' and I liked it.

Frango Piri Piri or Fish & Chips?
That is a very HARD question if I have to prioritise one of them. So I have to say 50/50!

Describe Antonio Da Silva in FIVE words?
Casual, pervy, workaholic, curious, intuitive and traveler.

What's next for Antonio Da Silva? Maybe a feature length film?
An interactive film especially designed for the web.

And last but not least. Madonna. Yay or nay?
I am very fan of her early works!

The Grindr Project...

Following my previous post on how gay couples react to weird Grindr conversations, here is a short educational documentary about Grindr, the wonderfully taboo little app, and the people who use it.

To be honest, I really enjoy this video and what it made of Grindr. To me, I strongly believe that we can make friends and other things out of it. I just think that people make the app, just like real life... Grindr is just a shortcut for that.

On the other hand, with no offense, I think the video would have been much better if it includes some interviews with minorities (Asian, Black, Hispanic, Indians etc.) and gets their perspectives since the majority of users are Caucasian.

OMG! I never really liked any of the MoneySuperMarket ads, but I just saw this half an hour ago on TV and I was nearly in tears from laughter!

Sickening Beyond Words...

Today I felt so sad, angry and sickened after I saw these horrific images depicts two men thrown from the roof of a building as a crowd watches them fall to their deaths, and they purport to show the bloody Islamic State (ISIS) carrying out public executions before an audience in Iraq’s Nineveh province. And the two victims' alleged crimes?

They are believed to be GAY.

Honestly, our world is such a F*CKED UP place right now and things MUST change! I just dunno where to start... From war crimes to hate crimes, maybe it'd best if the world blew up and started over, reset itself. Laws aren't working to protect people, police are not protecting people the way they should and religion has ruined the world. Images like the one above are hard to look at, but it's what's happening in our world today, in 2015!

Sitting here in my safe little flat in London, UK, feeling helpless to this situation. How can all of us, not on the front line of this situation help?

Guilty Pleasure...
I don't know and I don't care who the f*ck he is, he's definitely worth my 1:21 minutes of attention. And so do yours! Enjoy =]

By the way, I have no idea why suddenly all the videos in my previous posts aren't working. If any IT expert can tell me how to 'embed' videos using 'HTML code' in Blogger would be much appreciated. Cheers!

What A Kooza...

Tonight my friend and I went to the Royal Albert Hall to see Cirque du Soleil's KOOZA and thought it's TREMENDOUS! I liked it as much as VAREKAI, which I saw in Sydney more than 10 years ago!

Highlights were the crazy flexible contortionists, the tightrope walkers who did half of the act without wires or safety net, the rotating wheel dudes, the Chinese chair balancing guy and of course the super fit guy (above) in the 'Hand to Hand' body balancing act.

Honestly, I'd never heard of Charlie Hebdo magazine before the tragic shootings that left 12 people dead, but I do believe that a cowardly act of killing innocent people is just unacceptable under any circumstances. I really feel sorry... RIP those who lost their lives.

Will You...

It's almost a cliché at this point that a little girl dreams of opening a Tiffany blue box from her beau when he finally pops the question. But what about the boys who dream of being proposed to by their beaus?

For the first time, Tiffany & Co. is featuring a gay couple in its latest engagement campaign, who are not models but an actual real life couple from NYC, relaxing on the front stoop of their apartment.

"Nowadays, the road to marriage is no longer linear, and true love can happen more than once with love stories coming in a variety of forms," said Linda Buckley, Tiffany & Co. VP of North American PR, in a statement to "The Tiffany engagement ring is the first sentence of the story that a couple will write together as they create a life that is deeply intimate and exceptional, which is the message we hope to convey through this campaign."

Of course, we're looking forward to the day when the LGBT community is so universally accepted, that ads like these will call for little fanfare. But today, it's very exciting to see yet another iconic brand take a step in that direction. And can I just say, what a gorgeous couple!

Don't Cha Love Grindr...

For all the Grindr users and Grindr haters, this is some funny f*cked up sh*t (pardon about my language)! Seriously, the 'Philippines' scenario just made me dying laughing! Thank you Trent & Luke. You guys ROCK!

Guilty Pleasure...

PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong. I think the name of this sexy muscle bear/cub model is Sergio Art. I think he's Russian. I think this photo set is shot by Andrew Serkin, one of the greatest Russian photographers. And I think I'm falling in love with Russia Russian men.

Daddy Cool...

Have you ever found yourself in need of a hairy, muscular, mature man to help you pry open that pesky lock in the locker-room?

Welcome to Daddyhunt! Drop your Grindr, junk your Jack’d and scrap your Hornet, because there's a new app in town if you are a boy looking for a Daddy! To be honest, I've never really been down for the Daddy thing, but it's so 'in trend' now that I'm beginning to wonder if I'm majorly missing out.

Age-gap relationships are fine with me, mind you, it's the very specific connotation to being a Daddy that trips me up. Can't we just age and be ourselves without having to become 'Daddies'? Can't we date someone younger without having to call them 'Sons'?

Double Congratulations...

On January 6, couples across Florida celebrated the end of the state's ban on marriage for same-sex couples. According to the Human Rights Campaign says, more than 70 percent of Americans now live in one of the 36 states (including Florida) where marriage equality is the law. Congratulations to all of the happy couples =]

And speaking of marriage, I would like to send my big congratulations to Stephen Fry on his upcoming marriage to his fiancé Elliott Spencer!

The Defining Chapter...

So I went to see The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies last night and I absolutely LOVED it!

Personally, I think it's the best film in The Hobbit series and I still can't decide if I wanna be Galadriel, the mightiest and fairest of all Elves, played by Cate Blanchett, or Gandalf the Grey, the most well-known wizard on Middle-Earth, played by the one and only Ian McKellen.

Guilty Pleasure...

A cumshot is when the man reaches an orgasm and ejaculates on his recipient's face, mouth, chest, legs, ass or to some type of surface for that matter. The cumshot is very popular in pornography perhaps due to its explicit sexual nature which excites many.

The Spark That Fades...

Set in present day Chicago, In Bloom, is a gritty, raw and real look at young gay life in the city. It follows a young gay couple, Kurt (Kyle Wigent) and Paul (Tanner Rittenhouse), a pot dealer and a struggling grocery story clerk, respectively, as their relationship unwinds. The summer is like any other they have experienced together until Kurt begins to fall for one of his customers. From there, their story of loss and universal emotional unfolds... or, blooms, if you will.

Personally, I found In Bloom completely absorbing even though it's far from being a 'feel good' movie. Quite the contrary, it dealt with an aspect of relationships that is all too often ignored and that is the breakdown. I really enjoy this movie, it's a great honest film I have much respect for.
