Mothers like to decorate their homes in fall colours of red, yellow, orange, and black. And some like to make their homes spooky with ghosts and goblins, spiders and bats.
The history of Halloween goes back several thousand years to the time of the Celts, a group of people who lived in what is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France. At that time they called their festival Samhain (pronounced sow-in) and celebrated it on Nov 1. This was the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of winter, a cold dark time often associated with death.
The Celts also believed that ghosts of the dead returned to earth at that time, got into trouble and caused all kinds of mischief. A festival was celebrated at the time, which included bonfires, wearing costumes and fortune telling.

After his arraignment Thursday night, he said, "I didn't molest any- one... I already slept with that girl, so it's strange she would say I touched her inappropriately."
At the time of his arrest, Birleanu was free on $3,500 bail after he was charged on Oct 17 with leaving a model friend menacing messages, including two in which he allegedly threatened to break her legs. He then tracked the woman down in the street and grabbed her hair.
And believe it or not, the (not so) pretty face has served several prison stints since 2000 on charges including assault, harassment, criminal contempt, criminal mischief and trespassing.
