Goddamned Great...

OMG! It's hard to believe that after such a long agony wait, Jay Brannan, one of my most favourite and adorable solo artists has recently announced the highly anticipated release of his debut album Goddamned due out on July 1 (digital) and July 15 (CD). The debut was recorded at Los Angeles' famed Village Recording Studios with producer Will Golden. Jay has decided to release the album through his own Great Depression Records, despite major label courting.

For those who aren't familiar with his name (SHAME ON YOU), this twenty-something-year-old singer/songwriter/guitarist/actor (and super sweet cutie) first turned heads and gained international attention with his performance in John Cameron Mitchell's critically acclaimed film Shortbus. In addition to receiving praise for his acting talent, Jay began to gain notice for his song Soda Shop, which was performed in the film and released on Conor Oberst's Team Love label. It remains the #1 most downloaded track from the soundtrack. If you'd like to find out more about Jay, visit my older post HERE or his MySpace page HERE.

Goddamned is a stripped down record filled with Jay's silky smooth voice and acoustic guitar (not to mention the strings that pop up periodically). It's a brutally honest, instantly relatable album full of some amazing songs about love, heartbreak, living as a gay man, dating, and sex. He simply puts feelings that we've all felt one time or another into his songs and it makes it almost like he is singing about you. There are universal songs here that anyone, gay or straight, can relate to. Seriously, I would not miss this album and I can guarantee that you will not regret it!

And if Jay's new album is not exciting enough for you, wait till you see him LIVE in a city near you! Yes, Jay will be hitting the road this sum- mer in support of Goddamned and he is coming to London on August 28! So, check out the upcoming tour dates HERE and reserve your ticket! I'm so excited right now!
