A Singular Sensation...

I finally went to watch A Single Man at the cinema last night and I must tell you it's a fine, beautiful movie. Based on a Christopher Isherwood story, we follow George (Colin Firth) through a single day, where a series of encounters, ultimately leads him to decide if there's a mean- ing to life after the death of his long-time partner.

Personally, I found the movie was most moving when it showed how the relationship between the lead character and his partner of sixteen years was more real and profound than most of the marriages around them, yet how isolating and alone it became in a time when being gay meant being invisible.

Directed by Tom Ford, A Single Man is a deep movie, and a thoughtful one, and when it's over you can't easily put it out of your mind. I'd strongly recommend this movie if you ever have a chance to see it!
