Culture Vulture...

Being a newly converted culture vulture, I was lucky enough to find a ticket to see Tosca at the ROH last night and it was 'bloody' wonderful although Aida is still my top favourite opera so far.

For those who aren't as 'culture' as me =P Tosca is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini about jealousy, torture, attempted rape, murder and suicide by jumping off a castle wall. Hmm, sounds pretty 'unpretty' right?

Yes, I do agree the story is a bit lame, but if you push that aside, the stage setting and the singing are both so beautifully done, especially during Martina Serafin's (as Tosca) soprano of Vissi d'arte in Act II.

Anyway, more opera to come in the next couple of weeks - free LIVE broadcast of Madama Butterfly at Trafalgar Square next Monday, Two Boys at the ENO on July 8 and Cendrillon at the ROH on July 13!
