FIVE TODAY...

Believe it or not, today is TMOP's FIFTH anniversary and I really don't know what to say besides thank you, thank YOU and THANK YOU!
Five years ago today, I wrote my very first entry on this blog (which received two precious comments). I started TMOP because back then I was still struggling with my sexuality and I needed a place to escape, a place to express my inner thoughts, a place to share things I love. Well, it turns out, 1,266 blog entries later, that you can learn quite a bit about the big gay world by blogging about it. It also forces you to figure out who I truely am =]

Somewhere along the line, the popularity of this blog grew, so did my sense of responsibility to help (and entertain) others when and where I could. I'm still not that big a deal, not even so much a medium sized deal, but I do what I can to 'fulfill' you as my blog's tagline suggests.
Anyway, instead of receiving present(s) on my blog's birthday, I'm gonna do a giveaway because who doesn't like some free stuff? The first prize winner will recieve a copy of Man's World written by the genius Rupert Smith. I've read the book. It's an enjoyable story about modern-day gay London and the queer underworld of the 1950s. I laughed so much reading it and I just couldn't put it down!
So, to enter the competition, simply email or tell me in the comments section (make sure you provide your contact detail) why you think you deserve to win. Be HONEST! Be CREATIVE! You have until Sunday August 28th, midnight GMT to enter. Ready? Set? GO!

HEY DARLING WILL,
I DO NOT NEED TO WIN, BECAUSE I ALREADY HAVE WON EVERYTHING WORTH WINNING BY MEETING YOU AND BEING YOUR FRIEND ALL THESE MANY YEARS. I AM SO THANKFUL FOR YOU AND ALL THE GOOD YOU DO. I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU AND YOUR MANY AND VARIED ACHIEVEMENTS AND ALL THE PERSONAL PROGRESS THAT YOU HAVE MADE. ALL THAT HAS BEEN A JOY FOR ME AND GIVEN ME IMMENSE PLEASURE!

SO THERE, GIVE THE BOOK AWAY...I ALREADY HAVE THE BEST PRIZE OF ALL.

LUV

Well Will My Darling,
lest you be bummed out by no contestants, I'll be your contestant,on the grounds that we are old friends, I was the first to respond to you lovely B-Day for Ministry Piece, since I've advised you about being a minister in the ministry, and am already convinced I have had the best prize of all, all along! You have given me a lot of happiness! It's a little convoluted but what the hell! I would accept such a prize with delight, but require your inscription and autograph to personalize and solemnize it. So, pretty please with sugar and molasses on it, pick me...
luv,
p

I started my trip through your blog long time ago. I live in Spain and I think we lived some very special moments together without knowing each other at all. And look at us now. We've learned a lot, and with some of your entries you made me feel I wasn't the only one in the same situation.
A lot of laughs, a bit of tears, a couple of "good" times... Your blog has been one of my favourites, I even inspired my blog on yours, but I haven't got too much patience and my blogger life ended a year after. But I come here almost every day to see if you have posted one of your beautiful pictures, new hunks or simply, your thoughts.
Right now I feel both lucky and happy, I've grown up a lot, I've changed, I even learned to share my life (and I've never been happier), and a piece of my journey will always be attatched to your blog. The only thing I can say is thank you, I hope we'll keep travelling together for a long time.

First off, Happy Birthday (I hope not too belated!)

Second- I would LUV to enter the competition. So, I saw that Alan Hollinghurst's new novel- The Stranger's Child is longlisted for the booker. Loved The Line of Beauty and am currently half way thru his first novel, The Swimming-Pool Library. I ordered his new novel (not yet released in the US until late October), but the reviews I've been reading have been less than stellar. Perhaps I will require alternative reading material... Thanks!
