Nice photo. As to the poem -- love doesn't have to die, and God IS forgiving -- to those who repent.
"Seek ye the Lord while he may be found; call ye upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: let him return unto the Lord and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." (Isaiah 55:6-7)
This is the moral of Les Miserables: God provides redemption to Jean Valjean, who forsakes crime and who forgives Jabert. People like Fantine have a rough time in mortality, but obtain eternal peace.
