Big Oni(Lond)on...

Last night I had a conversation with a friend about my relationship with Peter Pan, and his interpretation had kinda consolidated one of my doubts of our breakup.

What he said was imagine our society as an onion with 'layers', and part of the reason PP and I didn't last was because we both came from a different 'layer' of the onion!

PP is an ordinary artist who makes a living painting commissions for wealthy clients with no fixed schedule of employment, and he manages his own time between painting and mixing with the high society. In contrast, I'm an ordinary hospital pharmacist working 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday with an average circle of friends who neither living in luxurious lifestyle nor members of any exclusive, private clubs.

What my friend tried to say was although he believed PP was a nice, charming, down-to-earth individual, he couldn't deny the fact that we both came from two different social 'layers', and no matter how I tried, I could never live and/or provide the lifestyle that PP had been living for the past 10-20 years. At the end of the day, it had absolutely NOTHING to do with shallowness or ability to feel deeper, it's just reality and survival.

Having said that, it's not all bad when two people from different 'layers' come together in the middle. For me, it's an experience to have a glimpse of what it's like to live in a high life. And for PP? Well, maybe an experience to feel care and love not because of what he does, but who he is as a person.

Thank you Manuel =]

Maybe I didnt get the full story but if he was just an ordinary artist from time to time gets commissioned to paint for his patrons, wouldnt he want some thing stable i.e. willie a pharmacist; by any standard a middle class chap with above average income capable of providing for him if he falls on hard times and seems madly in love with him?? That would seem more logical to me for survival?? Unless u get paid alot less than the pharmacist here in Canada do or his got a couple of sugar daddies/mommies already laying around.
